Reasons to be glad you’re not a horse: BITS - Pt.1

Ok. For the uninformed: A bit is a piece of metal which goes into the horse’s mouth. Bits cause pain by cutting into the gums, tongue and bars (literally the horse’s skull bones on the bottom of the jaw, which are as sharp as a knife edge) to “control” horses, and are a torture device. Imagine having these pieces of work in your mouth!

Note the bike chain bit. Try putting a bike chain onto your tongue and sawing with it. You’ll get the idea of how painful it is. Now think of the horse.

ATTENTION: animal rights activist could use your help with donations! For the sharks!!

Hi!

Normally I wouldn’t call help with donations, but I’m doing this for a very good
friend of mine & i hope you can also help out! To all of you who are shark fans and
people believing in animal rights and generally good-hearted people that would like to see a better world & who wouldn’t mind helping out someone else in need of some action! Someone with a clear vision and who’s seriously determined to bring a change for the sharks!

Maybe you have heard of the Monster Shark Tournament that annually takes place in Martha’s Vineyard in Oak Bluffs? It is a barbaric shark fishing tournament, where, despite the “rules”, still some sharks find their death and are brought in to the “gallows”, where they are weighted! Crowd of spectators cheers to this act when a big beautiful shark, now dead, has been eliminated from it’s natural marine environnment by humans! And for what? just a bit of fun…. Sharks are not horrific monsters as they are often portrayed by the media and which the movie “Jaws” has created for them! In fact, humans do not belong to their menu at all! It is a rare unfortunate occasion when a human gets bit! Yes, bit… and not attacked! The shape of a surfer or swimmer is taken for a seal; or other kinds of cases where shark just can’t resist for some reason and gets curious about human (usually humans themselves cause this with their actions!) in the water and comes to “taste” them, biting them… Since humans are not in their menu and it’s a very low-fat diet for them anyway (they think humans taste yucky!), they lose their interest straight away! On average; there is 5 fatal incidents a year for a human being! Humans have more chances of getting killed by being in a bathtub (340 deaths annually) or go to their death by a vending machine (13 people per year!) And considering how many people go swimming in a beach each year in waters where there are sharks, the number of incidents and fatalities is practically non-existant!

Truth is… the real predator of the oceans is human being itself! Shark populations
worldwide have declined 90% in last decades and a lot of shark species are now
endangered! Hundreds of millions of sharks die each year because of long-lining
operations and especially because of a nasty practice called shark finning, where the fins of the sharks are just cut off from alive fish and the rest of the shark is often just tossed back to the ocean and left to die… for where it slowly suffocates and drowns! All this for a demand in the Asian market, where a delicacy called shark fin soup is served. Even more ridiculous is that the soup is completely tasteless!! The fin is just for texture and could be easily substituted with cruelty-free products!! Sport fishing of sharks is also a problem! Usually it is done by some self-titled
“cowboys” who think they’ve done the world a favor when getting one shark out of the ocean! But these “cowboys” are often just doing this “blindfolded”… they have no idea what they are catching… Endangered and protected species are often caught because of this! Eliminating sharks from their natural environment definitely causes problems! They are an important part of the eco system and keep the balance in the food chain! Taking out the apex predators (the sharks) of this system is not a wise move! It has consequences and those can be very unseen!! And since world’s oceans directly influence all life on Earth, humans are in direct endanger themselves if they keep pushing things out of balance with their actions!

The killing of the sharks is completely nonsense and unnecessary practice in this
tournament! It is nothing but a trophy hunt! If it were done for the sports purpose… this tournament would long be a catch-and-release tournament only! But a lot of betting surrounds the tournament…. so no wonder they aren’t keen on changing this cruel practice for a more friendlier version! No doubt that even catch-and-release is stressful for the sharks, but the possibility that they will survive this stressful situation is more realistic!

So my friend wants to go to make a stand for those sharks and hopefully bring some wind of change! Please understand that details of this plan are yet to become more clear, but I assure you - this is for a good cause & for a serious animal rights activist! And most importantly, your donation could help to make a difference! Even if you yourself can’t be there, there will be people who represent your voice too and try to fight for the sharks!

So, if it’s possible for you, PLEASE donate whatever you can to him (you’ll find the
link under the post!) Every dollar makes a difference! This is all for a good cause of
trying to make a difference in this world for the sharks!

Thank you very much on mine and on his behalf!
For the sharks and for the Oceans!!!

Heart of a Horse

In the heart of a horse runs a river
in their soul therein lies the truth
in the eyes of a horse holds a secret
to truly see the world as it is

In the rhythm of their movement
in the grace of their dance
timeless teachers lending us wings to fly
a whisper in our ears, a breath on our heart
running free as they have from the start

Nature’s child runs free
necks arched to the sky
as the wind softly cries
cry on freedom, beauty above
none more than these creatures teach us to love

In the heart of a horse lies our every dream
for a moment closer in reach than it’s ever seemed
in the voice of a horse, they’ll speak if you listen
to reveal more of ourselves everyday

Nature’s child runs free
necks arched to the sky
as the wind softly cries
cry on freedom, beauty above
none more than these creatures teach us to love
